Police Nab Easter thieves
while many lagos residents were celebrating easter sunday ,Seven
suspected armed robbers were however busy terrorizing residents in
the state .
Their looting was however brought to an abrupt end when
anti-robbery policemen who had been alerted of their activity at the
Mushin area of the state egaged the ten man robbery gang in a shoot
out .seven of the armed robbery suspects were reportedly killed by
the police.
According to police spokes person Samuel Jinadu, the suspected armed
robbers “fell to the superior power of the police during a gun duel at
Mushin area of the state on Monday morning.”
The corpses of the seven suspected robbers and their weapons
Were on Monday displayed at the Lagos state police command
headquarters, Ikeja to serve as deterrent to other suspected armed
robbers in the state.
Mr. Jinadu, Said "On the 25th of April, 2011 at about 12.30am , based
on very reliable information, detectives from the State Anti-Robbery
Squad (SARS), engaged a notorious gang of armed robbers at Challenge
Bus Stop, Mushin.
In the gun battle that ensued between the police and the armed
robbers, a police corporal was shot in the abdomen and he is being
operated upon while seven of the armed robbers who came in a Honda
Accord Academy car fell to the superior firing power of the police ;
three of suspected armed robbers escaped with standby motorcycles.

Mr. Jinadu added that the police recovered sophisticated weapons
from the armed robbers and the fleeing robbers will soon be arrested.
“The items recovered from the suspected armed robbers are one AK-47
riffle with magazines loaded with 85 rounds of live ammunition, one
berretta pistol with 14 rounds of live ammunition, one pump action
riffle with 33 live cartridges, two locally made pistols ,one Berretta
pistol with 14 rounds ;. 9mm ammunition, charms, two iron cutters, one
hammer, Indian hemp and their operational car,Reg. No. Kwara AE 457
KSB. The suspected robbery gang killed two policemen in Vono area of
Mushin on Saturday; we are on the trail of those that escaped.” He
said
, Three policemen have been reportedly killed by suspected armed
robbers in the state recently. On April 24th a chief superintendent of
police and the Divisional police officer of the Alakuko police station
, Joseph Olamokun died in a hospital from gunshot wound he received
during a gun battle with armed robbers at the Target Gulf pin Down
Junction along the Lagos- Abeokuta Express way.
In another development, 18 passengers on Monday were involved in a
ghastly road accident that happened on the third Mainland Bridge
involving a commercial bus suspected to be speeding.
Eye witnesses said that the bus driver coming from Adeniji Adele area
of the state was heading towards Ketu when suddenly the driver lost
control of the vehicle and hit a pavement on the bridge before
somersaulting.
“A lot of people in the vehicle sustained serious injuries. Policemen
took them to the hospital for treatment,” an eye witness who requested
anonymity said

The family of late Richard Ejifor a -16 –years- old school boy found
hanging in a classroom wants the police to conduct a thorough
investigation into the untimely death of their son.
Parents of the deceased said they suspected foul play in the death
of their son and requested that the police do not sweep the matter
under the carpet.
Master Ejiofor a senior secondary school 3 student of the
Science Model College Kankon Badagry was one of the over 20
students in his class preparing for the West African Examination
Council Exams (WAEC).
His corpse was however found dazzling in an uncompleted classroom on April 6th.
The news of his death caused panic in the school but more dazed by the
manner in which the boy dead are the parents of the deceased, who have
been in shock since they received the news of his tragic death.
The school authority in their statement to the police said master
Ejiofor allegedly committed suicide. The statement read that one of
the students found his corpse in the early morning of April 6th and
alerted the school authority.
Master Ejiofor was dressed in his school uniform with his
stockings, shoes and he had used a blanket to hang himself.
No suicide note was however found at the scene of the crime.
Henry Ejiofor the father of the deceased however rejected the
statement by the school authority that his son committed suicide.
“How can they just conclude that my son committed suicide when an
autopsy has not been conducted?” Mr. Ejiofor asked rhetorically. “My
son was murdered; Richard was not suicidal. They told me that one of
the students who had gone out that morning about 5.00, found my son
hanging from an uncompleted building and the same boy pulled him down
and alerted the school.
There are many questions, I want answered. How did my son get out of
the hostel at night when they are locked in by their house master? I
learnt that his guardian checked on him that night so what happened
later? What about the fact that he had his school uniform on, with his
sock and shoes? If he had hanged himself as they are saying, will he
still be in his school uniform at night?”Mr. Ejiofor said
Mr Ejiofor said he will wait for an autopsy report to be conducted
before seeking justice for his son.
“Richard was a happy boy, nothing in his character or demeanor showed
that he will commit suicide. two days before his death he had called
me on a pay phone to reminded me of their visiting day was on April
10th and he wanted me to get him some grocery . RICHARD HAS NOT
MENTIONED ANY SERIOUS PROBLEM to me and he was very happy when he
spoke to me that day, I don’t know that will be the last time I will
hear my son’s voice” mrs Ejiofor said in tears.
Efforts to get the Lagos state ministry of education to react to
the death were not successful.
A source in the state ministry of education who requested anonymity
said “ you know this is politics time and everybody is working toward
Mr. Fashola ‘s victory, so most of the officers that can speak to you
are not available.” The source said
Reacting to the death, the spokes person for the Lagos state police
command said two staff of the school have been arrested.
“the case is under investigation . Two staff of the school have been
arrested and Homicide detectives from Panti Yaba are conducting a
thorough investigation into the case”Mr. Jinadu said.
On April 11th the corpse of a 7 years old boy Favour Eze was found
inside a septic tank in his school at the National Orthopedic Special
school Igbobi .
